Principal Specialist Orthodontist
BDS MSc (Lond) 1994, LDS FDS RCS (Eng), MOrth RCS (Edin)
Gareth Davies is our Principal Orthodontic Specialist. Gareth qualified as a Dentist in 1984 and as an Orthodontic Specialist in 1997. Gareth treats orthodontic problems for individuals of all ages. The overwhelming positive changes that orthodontic treatment can make to an individual’s confidence and self-esteem provides Gareth with the greatest job satisfaction possible. When not straightening teeth and creating wonderful smiles, Gareth enjoys all that goes with family life, including being walked by his dogs. He loves all kinds of sport, especially rugby, and plays guitar in the band The Remoras. Make sure you go to see them sometime!
Associate Specialist Orthodontist
BDS MJDF RCS (Eng), MClinDent (Lond), MOrth RCS (Eng)
Simon graduated as a Dentist in 2008 and started his specialist orthodontic training in 2013. Simon gained experience in all areas of dentistry before embarking upon specialist orthodontic training. When not providing expert orthodontic treatment. Simon enjoys spending time with his family, running and playing football. He has recently completed the London Marathon and the Tough Mudder assault course raising money for charity.
Bev joined the team in 2009 and has overall responsibility for the outcomes of strategic planning, financial management, resource management, marketing, services and sales. Bev has over 30 years of senior management experience, both in the public and private sector, and within various multidisciplinary organisations. In her spare time, Bev enjoys teaching yoga and meditation, mountain walking, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Level 5 Diploma in Management & Leadership (ILM)
Karina joined the team in April 2019 and has responsibility for all areas of HR support and customer services. Having worked in other NHS/Private general dental practices, Karina is equipped with a vast amount of experience and knowledge in all areas of managing a dental practice. In 1994 she passed her NEBDN (National Exam for dental nurses) and then completed her SAAD, sedation for dental nurses course, followed by an oral health education course. After being promoted to Practice Manager In 2009, she went on to successfully complete the ILM Level 5 Diploma in Management & Leadership.
With over 25 years of experience with patient care, Karina continues to be passionate about all areas of day to day practice management. Always wearing a smile, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude, Karina is excited about her future at Colchester Orthodontic Centre, and is looking forward to supporting and leading the team from the front. Having experienced fixed orthodontics herself, she understands what a difference it makes when your treatment is completed. In her spare time, Karina enjoys cruises, spending time with her husband and daughter, Sunday worship and salsa dancing.
Megan has been part of the Colchester Orthodontic Centre team since January 2013 in various roles. Prior to this, she worked for four years in the hospitality sector at a prestigious hotel in Suffolk. She is currently our Treatment Coordinator.
Megan feels very lucky to work with such a professional, friendly and motivated team who all strive to provide the best possible service and quality of care possible. Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with her loved ones especially her baby boy Albie.
Dip Orth Therapy RCS (Eng)
Fiona became one of the first Orthodontic Therapists in the country after completing the South Wales Orthodontic Therapy course and qualifying in 2009. Fiona gained her National Certificate in Dental Nursing in 1980 & became an Orthodontic Dental Nurse in 2003. She has gained National Certificates in Oral Health Education and Orthodontic Nursing. Fiona is married with two grown-up sons and in her spare time, she enjoys country walks, running and shopping for vintage items.
Ceri has worked in dentistry since 2010, starting in general and went purely into orthodontics in 2011. Ceri started off as a trainee dental nurse qualifying in 2012 then progressed onto gaining her radiography qualification in 2013 and orthodontic nursing in 2014. In July 2014 Ceri went to UCLAN University in Preston, Lancashire where she trained and became a qualified Orthodontic Therapist in 2015. Ceri now teaches at the university where she trained helping student orthodontic therapist gain the knowledge they need to pass their required examinations. As well as teaching she will be publishing a textbook called ‘Textbook for Orthodontic Therapists’ which will be used across the universities in the country teaching the diploma in orthodontic therapy. The aim of this is to help students and qualified orthodontic therapists gain and maintain their knowledge.
Ceri joined Colchester Orthodontic Centre in April 2019 and is looking forward to her future at the practice. Ceri feels as though the most rewarding part of her job is seeing the transformation in patients smiles from the beginning to the end. In her spare time Ceri likes going on city breaks, going to the gym and spending time with her family and friends.
Clair joined the Colchester Orthodontic Centre team in September 2017, we are excited to have her as part of our team to offer her expertise to our patients. Clair qualified as a hygienist from UCH London School of Hygiene in 1988. She has worked as a hygienist in the Colchester area ever since! In her spare time, Clair enjoys spending time with her grown-up sons and attends regular Zumba/Pilates sessions to keep fit!
Head Orthodontic Nurse
Laurie has worked in the dental profession since 2007. She joined our team in January 2012 and subsequently gained the National Certificate in Dental Radiography. Laurie is responsible for organising the smooth running of all clinics & for leading the nursing team. Laurie has a friendly and very approachable nature which makes her very popular with our younger patients. Outside of work, Laurie loves spending quality time with her family.
Natasha has been a part of our team since March 2015. She has fourteen years of dental nursing experience, the last ten having been spent in orthodontics. She obtained the National Certificate in Dental Nursing and in Radiography, and now has the NEBDN Orthodontic Nursing certificate! Natasha loves nursing and particularly enjoys interacting with the patients. Natasha loves spending time with her husband, daughter Annabelle and son Elliot.
Joe joined our team in November 2017. Joe began dental nursing 7 years ago and for the last 4 years has been working in an orthodontic practice. Joe gained her certificate in Dental Radiography in December 2014 and then completed the NEBDN Orthodontic Nursing Certificate in March 2016. Well done Joe! In her free time Joe enjoys spending time with her friends and family and can often be found out running!
Sophie started her career as a dental nurse in 2010, she has completed her extended duties in dental radiography and impressions taking. Sophie is new to orthodontics, she joined us in August 2018 to pursue a career in Orthodontic Nursing, working towards her future goal of becoming an Orthodontic Therapist. In her free time Sophie enjoys going to the gym, city breaks and family days out.
Gemma qualified as a Dental Nurse in 2008. She gained her Certificate in Dental Radiography in 2009 and completed the NEBDN Orthodontic Nursing Certificate in 2010. Gemma began working for Mr Davies in 2009 before leaving in 2012 to have her children Emily and James. Gemma was very excited to be returning to Colchester Orthodontic Centre in 2018.
Vikki has been a part of our team since November 2018. She has five years of dental nursing experience with the last three having been spent in orthodontics.
Vikki says that she loves nursing and particularly within Orthodontics following patients journey to see the changes from the beginning to the end. Vikki also loves spending time with her family, friends and especially her little daughter Andi.
Carmen joined us in October 2015 and has over eight years of dental reception experience. Carmen really enjoys her role as it allows her to get to know our patients and be part of their orthodontic journey. She has just completed her own course of orthodontic treatment and can therefore can give first-hand advice. In her spare time, Carmen loves spending time with her family.
